Tropics Derma Research & Training Institute (TDRTI)
The Tropics Derma Research& Training Institute (TDRTI) is a scientific and educational institution dedicated to advancing the understanding of skin care challenges in tropical environments through rigorous research, structured training, and evidence-based practice. Established to address the distinct beauty, wellness, and dermatological needs encountered in regions characterized by tropical climates, TDRTI integrates scientific inquiry with professional education to elevate standards of practice in cosmetology, dermatology, and related health sciences. The Institute collaborates with academic partners, policy stakeholders, and industry actors to generate context-specific knowledge that informs research, training, and policy development.
TDRTI exists to fill critical gaps in evidence generation, professional training, and scientific outcomes related to tropical skin conditions. Conventional skincare research and clinical protocols have historically been developed outside the context of tropical environments, resulting in limited applicability for populations in these regions. TDRTI’s mandate is to rectify this by conducting structured investigations, aggregating empirical data, and developing instructional programs that reflect the physiological, environmental, and cultural determinants of skin care practices in tropical populations. Its work aims to reduce the prevalence of harmful skincare practices, strengthen local capacity for clinical research and support the translation of research findings into public health interventions and policy guidance
